Walmart faces scrutiny over pricing and credit card services
Walmart is facing questions regarding its pricing consistency and credit card offerings. A viral social media video highlighted a customer's claim that the price of butter increased between the shelf and the self-checkout. A store manager reportedly attributed the discrepancy to computer updates, leading to discussions regarding dynamic pricing strategies.
Separately, Walmart offers two types of credit cards: a closed-loop card restricted to Walmart stores and a MasterCard that can be used at any establishment accepting that network. Applications can be completed in-store, online, or via a mobile app, with approval depending on the applicant's credit score.
