Walmart launches $120 subscription bundle to compete with Amazon Prime

Walmart has introduced a new bundled subscription service that combines Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus memberships for $120 per year. This pricing is $19 lower than the $139 annual cost of Amazon Prime and offers a $100 discount compared to purchasing the two programs separately.

The bundle includes several consumer perks, such as free delivery, 2% Sam’s Cash on select purchases, $0.10 off per gallon of gas, and a choice between streaming services Peacock or Paramount+.

Industry analysts view the move as a direct challenge to Amazon’s market dominance. While Walmart maintains a significant physical retail presence with over 4,600 stores and 600 Sam’s Clubs, Amazon continues to capture more spending than Walmart in five out of seven major retail categories. Experts note that while the Walmart bundle offers strong value on paper, Amazon’s deeply entrenched ecosystem of shipping and streaming remains a formidable competitor.
