Xbox confirms Gears of War: E-Day will be Xbox‑exclusive, PS5 version cancelled

Microsoft announced at the Xbox Games Showcase that Gears of War: E‑Day, slated for release on 6 October 2026, will launch exclusively on Xbox consoles, Xbox Cloud and PC (via Steam and Game Pass Ultimate). The decision is part of a renewed exclusivity strategy led by Xbox head Asha Sharma, who said, “We want people to choose Xbox.”

Rumors of a PlayStation 5 version arose after a Walmart placeholder listing and a leaked Xbox podcast slide showing the PS5 logo. Jeff Grubb, reporting on the rumors, stated, “Gears of War: E‑Day was going to be on PS5… It’s not anymore.” Xbox later clarified that the PS5 port was cancelled, not pulled at the last minute, and that the game will never be released on Sony’s platform.

A pre‑order beta is scheduled to begin on 6 August 2026, with the full launch on 6 October 2026. Clockwork Revolution was also confirmed as an Xbox‑exclusive title.
