Walmart slashes prices on thousands of summer items

Walmart announced price reductions on thousands of products for the summer season, covering groceries, outdoor equipment and seasonal goods. Notable cuts include a one‑pound roll of 73 % lean ground beef, lowered from $6.74 to $5.94 per pound, sweet corn reduced to 25 cents per ear, and a 2.25‑lb bag of fresh red cherries discounted to $5.63. Other items such as Great Value ice cream, Lay’s Classic chips, and 24‑packs of Coca‑Cola and Pepsi were also reduced.

Sam’s Club, Walmart’s membership division, introduced similar cuts on more than 250 items, with examples like Member’s Mark bone‑in chicken wings at $2.00 per pound and beef hot dogs at $10.86. Both retailers emphasized the timing to match peak summer demand for grilling, travel and outdoor activities, aiming to ease cost pressures for households.

Walmart operates over 10,900 stores in 19 countries, serves roughly 280 million customers weekly, reported fiscal‑year 2026 revenue of $713 billion and employs about 2.1 million people. The price‑cut initiative is part of its Rollback program and is available through physical stores, online platforms and mobile apps, with the reductions expected to continue throughout the summer period.
