Walmart Supercenter opens in Piedras Negras, Mexico, adding 190 jobs

Walmart de México y Centroamérica inaugurated a new Supercenter on Bulevar República in Piedras Negras, Coahuila. The opening ceremony was attended by municipal officials, including Mayor Jacobo Rodríguez, and Walmart executives such as subdirector Jorge Adolfo Estrada. The store will create 123 direct positions and 70 indirect jobs, totaling about 190 new employment opportunities.

Walmart highlighted the investment as a boost to the local economy and pledged to support community programs through its foundation, focusing on public‑space rehabilitation, agricultural assistance and job creation. The launch underscores the company's strategy to expand low‑price retail options and corporate social responsibility initiatives in border cities.

Local authorities praised the project for strengthening the city’s competitiveness and attracting further private investment, noting the potential benefits for hundreds of families in the region.
