Walt Disney World adjusts operations after Lightning Lane overflow at EPCOT

Walt Disney World was forced to adjust operations at EPCOT after the Lightning Lane queue for the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction overflowed its designated area. Video footage showed the premium line stretching deep into the World Discovery section, becoming longer than the standard standby line.

To manage the congestion, Cast Members had to use signs to mark the end of the queue for arriving guests. The incident has raised questions regarding the management of the Lightning Lane Single Pass system, which allows guests to purchase separate expedited access to high-demand attractions. While the system uses scheduled return windows to distribute demand, the overflow suggests that guest volume at the attraction exceeded the capacity of the premium queue space.
