Walt Disney World expands luggage service and updates resort access

Walt Disney World Resort is implementing several operational changes and service expansions. The free Airport Luggage Transfer program, previously limited to value resorts, has expanded to include the Caribbean Beach Resort, marking the first moderate resort to offer the service.

Simultaneously, the resort is introducing new physical barriers at the Transportation and Ticket Center in the Heroes parking lot. These taller blue structures replace previous red barriers and are part of a broader trend of access restrictions in the Magic Kingdom Resort area, which includes limitations on transportation and holiday decoration access for non-guests.

Upcoming changes for September 2026 include the conclusion of the Cool KIDS’ SUMMER seasonal event, the temporary closure of Typhoon Lagoon water park, and the temporary closure of the Coral Reef Restaurant at EPCOT. Additionally, the Disney Parks Play app is scheduled to be retired on September 16, 2026, affecting interactive experiences like the Star Wars: Datapad.
