Disney theme parks face weather disruptions and major construction projects

Walt Disney World in Florida experienced severe thunderstorms on August 23, 2026, resulting in heavy rainfall, lightning, and high winds. The weather forced the temporary closure of several outdoor attractions, including Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Slinky Dog Dash, Expedition Everest, and Test Track. Additionally, flooding occurred at the Frontier Trading Post in Magic Kingdom, leading to its closure.

In Europe, Disneyland Paris Resort has begun refurbishing portions of the original Adventureland area, with construction walls blocking walkways near Sleeping Beauty Castle. This is part of a broader transformation at the resort, which includes the development of Disney Adventure World. Future plans for the park include new attractions inspired by ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Up’, as well as the 2027 rebranding of Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain to Space Mountain – De la Terre à la Lune.

Meanwhile, at the Disneyland Resort in California, construction has officially commenced on a new eight-story parking structure and transportation hub in Anaheim. The project aims to provide 6,000 parking spaces, 302 electric vehicle charging stations, and a dedicated security headquarters to improve guest arrival and transit.
