Walt Disney World reports low crowds and Typhoon Lagoon closure
Walt Disney World is experiencing unusually low crowd levels and significantly reduced attraction wait times in the days leading up to Labor Day 2026. Major attractions, such as the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom and Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, have reported standby waits as low as five minutes, a sharp contrast to typical peak-period delays.
Simultaneously, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park is preparing for a seasonal refurbishment. The park will operate through September 8, 2026, before closing on September 9. While such shutdowns are standard for maintenance, Disney has not yet announced a reopening date for 2027, leaving Blizzard Beach as the sole operating water park at the resort during the closure period.
