Walt Disney World tests new photo effects at Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World is testing new PhotoPass features at Magic Kingdom, drawing both viral interest and criticism from fans. One social media creator went viral after successfully bringing a dressed-up porch goose named ‘Lucy Goosey’ through security to take photos in front of Cinderella Castle.
Simultaneously, the company is testing ‘Haunted Mansion Magic Shot’ variations that use image treatments to transform guests into ghostly figures or the attraction’s iconic busts. The use of these effects has sparked debate among enthusiasts. While some view them as novel souvenirs, others have criticized the bust portraits for appearing to use generative AI. Some critics argue that the use of AI-style imagery is ‘disrespectful’ to the legacy of original Haunted Mansion designers Marc Davis and Claude Coats.
