Walt Disney World to test AI-powered vacation planning tool

Walt Disney World is launching a beta test of a redesigned, AI-powered hotel selection and vacation planning experience. Developed in partnership with Google Cloud, the new system aims to simplify the complex booking process by allowing travelers to use natural language to describe their preferences, such as budget, group size, and specific interests.

Instead of navigating multiple menus, guests can enter conversational queries. For example, a user could request a resort near EPCOT or one themed around specific characters. The tool is designed to provide personalized recommendations, compare prices, and check availability, potentially reducing the high number of website visits guests currently make before finalizing a booking.

Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro previously identified artificial intelligence as a key method to reduce planning complexity. This initiative follows similar AI implementations within the company, such as the AI-powered personal shopping assistant used in Disney Stores.
