Walt Disney's burial site and the company's post-founder era

Walt Disney is interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. His final resting place is located within the Freedom Mausoleum, a private and secure area that is not accessible to the general public.

Following Walt Disney’s death in 1966, The Walt Disney Company entered a period often referred to as the “Disney Dark Age.” During this era, the company struggled to adapt to changing market tastes and audience preferences. In an attempt to replicate the success of Star Wars, Disney produced the outer space mystery film “The Black Hole.” This project included a partnership with toy manufacturer Mego to create an expansive line of action figures and merchandise, aiming to capture the lucrative toy market.
