Walter De Maria artworks featured in Calvin Klein runway show

The Calvin Klein Spring/Summer 2027 runway show, held at New York’s Terminal Warehouse, featured prominent works by minimalist artist Walter De Maria. The collaboration between Creative Director Veronica Leoni and curator Antwaun Sargent aimed to highlight the parallels between De Maria’s artistic principles and the brand’s minimalist aesthetic.

Featured pieces included several works from De Maria’s ‘Polygon’ and ‘Meter Row’ series, such as the 13, 14, and 15 Meter Rows from 1985, as well as the 14-Sided and 16-Sided Open Polygons from 1984. The exhibition also showcased ‘Truth/Beauty’, a series of sculptures the artist began developing before his death in 2013.

Sargent noted that the integration of art and fashion was intentional, stating that the installations were placed so that the art held a central role in the viewing experience. He emphasized a shared ‘reverence for material’ between the artist’s use of stainless steel and the brand’s use of cotton, noting that De Maria’s focus on precision, repetition, and form aligns with Leoni’s vision for the brand.
