Walter Pater's 'Appreciations' to receive new edition by Cátedra
The publishing house Cátedra will release a new edition and translation of Walter Pater's 'Appreciations; with an Essay on Style' (1889) in Madrid in 2026. The work is edited and translated by Javier Alcoriza.
The 248-page volume is priced at 17.50 euros. Walter Pater, an Oxford professor and key theoretical figure of the Aesthetic Movement, was a significant influence on writers such as Oscar Wilde. The new edition aims to showcase Pater's unique approach to criticism and his role as a precursor to Decadentism.
