Walton Global Investments proposes Edmonton data center campus

Walton Global Investments, an Arizona-based company, has applied to amend planning documents to facilitate the construction of a large-scale data center campus in northeast Edmonton. The proposed project, located within the Edmonton Energy and Technology Park (EETP), aims to create a hyperscale-ready digital infrastructure district intended to be one of the largest of its kind in North America.

The application seeks to change approximately 250 hectares of land from a petrochemical precinct to a medium industrial precinct, adding data centers as a permitted use. This proposal comes as the Edmonton City Council prepares to debate new regulations and restrictions regarding large-scale data center facilities. The city is currently seeking public feedback on the proposed amendments to the area structure plan.
