Waltrop resumes free electric cargo bike rental service

The city of Waltrop has resumed its free electric cargo bike rental service following several interruptions due to repairs and technical issues. A new model from local manufacturer Hase Bikes is now available in the bicycle box located between the marketplace and the small parking lot behind the town hall on Bahnhofstraße.

The rental program, which began in May 2025, has faced previous challenges, including a period where a bike went missing and required repairs to the lock and saddle.

To use the service, residents must register via the ‘Connect Ready’ app and provide personal details, including name, address, mobile number, and ID number, via email to the city's mobility department. Once registered, users receive a password to unlock the bicycle box. Rentals are free for a maximum of 24 hours, and users are required to plug the battery into the box's socket upon return.
