Waltrop SPD calls for improved taxi infrastructure
The SPD faction in Waltrop is calling for improvements to the local taxi infrastructure. A motion has been submitted to the Committee for Environment, Climate, and Mobility to examine the necessity of additional taxi stands.
According to the SPD, the number of taxi concessions has nearly doubled within a year, yet official waiting areas have been reduced since 2021. Currently, only two official spaces are available at Herne-Bay-Platz. The faction suggests consulting local taxi companies—Taxiservice Waltrop, KTS Schröder, and Vestische Fahrdienste—to assess their needs.
Proposed solutions include increasing the number of stands to three or four during the redesign of the market area or Raiffeisenplatz. The SPD is also requesting an investigation into establishing new stands at the town hall or in eastern Waltrop to better serve elderly citizens and those with limited mobility.
