Wan Chai eatery sparks buzz with HK$9 late-night rice meals
A two-dish rice eatery in Wan Chai, known as ‘Lady Boss Hong Kong’, has gained significant social media attention for offering late-night meals at extremely low prices. Between 9:00 pm and 2:00 am, the establishment offers chicken leg rice or beef rice for just HK$9.
The promotion has sparked widespread online discussion regarding the cost of living in Hong Kong and the sustainability of such aggressive pricing. While some netizens view the deals as a clever marketing strategy, others have expressed skepticism about whether the business can remain profitable or if prices will increase once a large customer base is established.
This is not the first time the restaurant has utilized low-cost promotions to attract crowds. Previous offers included HK$39 all-you-can-eat rice, HK$25 breakfasts, and HK$10 eel fried rice during afternoon tea. In just one year of operation, the shop has become a notable fixture in the local dining scene, with peak daily sales reaching approximately 1,300 lunchboxes.
