Wanda Traczyk-Stawska, Warsaw Uprising veteran, honored at funeral

Funeral ceremonies were held in Warsaw for Wanda Traczyk-Stawska, a 99-year-old veteran of the Warsaw Uprising. The memorial services included a mass at the Holy Cross Church, attended by officials such as Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski and Senate Marshal Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska.

Traczyk-Stawska was a member of the Szare Szeregi and served as a shooter and liaison for the Home Army (Armia Krajowa) during the uprising. She was wounded in combat in September 1944 and later spent time in German prisoner-of-war camps. Following the war, she studied psychology and worked as a teacher.

Beyond her military service, she was recognized for her lifelong commitment to preserving the memory of uprising victims and her work in establishing the Memory Chamber at the Warsaw Uprising Cemetery. During the funeral, speakers praised her as a moral authority who remained dedicated to her ideals throughout her life.
