Wando County launches autumn island travel and festival rebranding
Wando County is launching a series of autumn tourism programs and rebranding its major seafood festival to boost regional vitality.
From October 9 to 11, the county will host the ‘Clean Wando Autumn Island Travel’ event at Wando Beach Park. The program features a smart electronic map stamp tour where visitors can receive abalone for visiting key tourist sites. Activities include stargazing on Cheongsando, visiting cultural heritage sites on Bogildo, and trekking along the Namparang-gil trails. The event will also include seafood markets, local agricultural products, and various performances featuring artists such as Son Tae-jin and Gil-gu.
Additionally, Wando County is restructuring its signature ‘Jang Bogo Seafood Festival’ into a marine-experience-oriented event. To reflect this new identity, the county is holding a public contest from October 1 to 16 to select a new name for the festival. The goal is to create a unique tourism brand that integrates Wando’s sea, islands, and marine resources to attract more visitors.
