Wandsbek pedestrian tunnel faces flooding issues after heavy rain
A pedestrian tunnel located between Pregelweg and the footpath parallel to the tracks toward Wandsbek-Gartenstadt has become frequently impassable following heavy rainfall. Reports indicate that water can reach ankle-deep levels at the tunnel entrance and extend approximately 2.5 meters into the passage, making it nearly impossible to traverse without waterproof footwear.
The situation poses significant challenges for elderly residents, individuals with limited mobility, and parents using strollers, often forcing them to take lengthy detours.
Local politicians, including members of the CDU, have addressed the issue. The Regional Committee for the Wandsbek core area has formally requested that the district office rectify the situation, specifically by restoring proper drainage to ensure the tunnel remains usable during rainy weather.
