Wang Fu Yuen fire contractors' disciplinary hearings postponed

Disciplinary hearings for two fire service contractors involved in the Wang Fu Yuen fire have been postponed indefinitely. The Fire Services Department announced that the hearings for Wang Tai Fire Services Engineering Co., Ltd. and Chung Wah Development Engineering Co., Ltd., originally scheduled for Friday, will be rescheduled to allow for further preparation and to avoid interfering with ongoing criminal investigations and the independent inquiry report.

Investigations into Wang Tai Fire Services revealed that while employees had marked fire water tanks as having insufficient water levels during annual inspections, the company's director and engineer, Chung Kit-man, signed off on the inspection certificates without listing the issue as a required repair, admitting he overlooked the checklist items.

Chung Wah Development Engineering Co., Ltd. faces allegations of submitting 93 notices to shut down fire protection systems over a seven-month period during major works without conducting on-site inspections, allegedly receiving benefits from a contractor to process these applications.
