Wang Hao harassed by extreme fans during WTT China Smash

Wang Hao, the head coach of the Chinese men’s national table tennis team, was surrounded and harassed by extreme fans during the WTT China Smash in Beijing. The incident occurred on October 6 near the Shougang Park venue, where fans confronted the coach regarding his lineup decisions during the Nagoya Asian Games.

According to reports, fans shouted provocations at Wang, specifically questioning his tactical choices involving players Lin Shidong and Wang Chuqin. In response to the confrontation, Wang recorded the incident on his mobile phone for evidence and sought assistance from local police.

The Chinese Table Tennis Association (CTTA) issued a statement on October 7 condemning such behavior. The association emphasized its commitment to protecting the rights and safety of coaches and athletes, noting that personnel have also faced verbal abuse via text and social media. To prevent future occurrences, the CTTA plans to implement a ban list for disruptive individuals to maintain order at sporting events.
