Wang Sihan, Chinese prodigy who entered university at 14, struggles with academic journey

Wang Sihan, a child prodigy from Shenyang, Liaoning, faced significant challenges after entering university at the age of 14. Born in 1991 to a working-class family, Wang demonstrated exceptional academic abilities early on, completing middle and high school programs in just four years at Northeast Yucai High School.

In 2005, at age 14, Wang scored 572 on the university entrance exam, securing a place in the Automation program at Shenyang University of Technology. Despite his academic success, the age gap between Wang and his older peers created social and emotional difficulties. Wang described his university experience as a period of isolation, characterized by intense studying and a lack of social integration, eventually leading to his departure from the institution by age 18.
