Wang Wei-chung defends interview neutrality amid political criticism

Media personality Wang Wei-chung has addressed criticisms regarding his recent interview with Shen Po-yang, which some viewers claimed compromised his reputation by appearing politically biased. Wang defended his approach, stating that he views his role as conducting interviews rather than catering to political expectations. He emphasized that his style involves open conversation without fixed agendas and noted that he has interviewed over 500 people across various political spectrums.

In a separate discussion, commentator Shen Fu-hsiung suggested that Wang’s interview served as an effective political maneuver for Shen Po-yang, characterizing Wang as an unintentional “helper” in an unequal competition. This prompted a heated rebuttal from Chao Shao-kang, who argued that media outlets should not avoid guests simply because they are skilled at political maneuvering. Chao maintained that both political camps utilize media opportunities and that journalists should remain open to all candidates.
