Wang Wei-hsuan wins SJM Macao Open in dramatic play-off
Wang Wei-hsuan secured his first Asian Tour title by winning the SJM Macao Open in a dramatic play-off at the Macau Golf and Country Club. The victory serves as redemption for the Taiwanese golfer, who lost a title in a similar sudden-death finish exactly one year prior.
After finishing regulation at 17-under par, Wang chipped in for an eagle on the 18th hole to take a one-shot lead. South Korean golfer Im Sung-jae responded with a birdie on the final hole to force the play-off. Wang ultimately clinched the $1 million prize by recording a birdie on the first extra hole.
American Charles Porter finished in third place at 14-under par, despite battling illness throughout the tournament. Porter recorded the lowest single-round score of the event with a nine-under-par 61 in the final round.
