Wang Yibo racing accident: China GT organizers release investigation results

The China GT organizers have released a conclusion regarding the racing accident involving actor and racer Wang Yibo during the Shanghai round on September 6. Wang Yibo, driving car number 85, was forced to withdraw from the race after being struck from behind by car number 116 near turn 11.

Following a review of video evidence and statements from involved parties, the stewards determined that the driver of car number 116 failed to maintain a safe braking distance and could not decelerate sufficiently, leading to the collision. The organizers ruled that the driver of car 116 bears full responsibility for the incident, while Wang Yibo carries no responsibility. The collision caused damage to the rear diffuser of car 85, making it unable to continue the competition.

Despite the official ruling, some fans have called for a more transparent investigation. They have requested the release of full, unedited footage, including onboard camera angles from the trailing vehicle, to verify the stewards' findings and prevent rumors regarding the actor's reputation.
