Wanianga sector launches road brigade in Walikale

The Wanianga sector in the Walikale territory of North Kivu has officially launched a road brigade to improve local infrastructure. The initiative, funded through the sector's own resources, involved the acquisition of three pieces of heavy machinery: a compactor, an excavator, and a grader.

The equipment was officially handed over by Walikale Territory Administrator Ado Laurent Kasongo to the Wanianga Sector Chief, Dr. Akilimali Bamwisho Descartes. The primary goal of this investment is to combat isolation in the region by opening, rehabilitating, and maintaining roads, which will facilitate the evacuation of agricultural products.

To ensure the sustainability of the project, a training component has been established. Seven local youths have been sent to Kampala, Uganda, to learn to operate the machinery, with a second wave of training planned to focus on equipment maintenance.
