Guinea President Mamadi Doumbouya announces judicial reshuffle and land reforms

Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya has implemented a major reorganization of the nation's judicial system. Through several decrees, dozens of magistrates have been appointed to key positions across the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal in Conakry and Kankan, and various Courts of First Instance. Notable appointments include Mamadou Saliou Diakité as the new president of the Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Crimes (CRIEF), while Alphonse Charles Wright retains his role as special prosecutor.

In a separate administrative move, the President signed a decree declassifying over 750 hectares of state land reserves in Conakry, specifically affecting the Simbaya, Wanindara, and Kassa areas. While the decision has been met with relief by local residents hoping for land regularization, officials have cautioned that the subsequent restructuring and urban planning processes may lead to the demolition of homes built in unauthorized or anarchic zones.
