Wanwichit Boonprong criticizes jet ski rider in Bangkok floods

Academic Wanwichit Boonprong has criticized a man who drove a jet ski through floodwaters on Phetchaburi Tat Mai Road, an act that sparked widespread public backlash. The individual, identified as a CEO, reportedly claimed his actions were intended to ‘make people smile’ and stated he did not understand Thai culture because he had lived abroad for a long time.

Boonprong, an associate professor and deputy dean at Rangsit University, dismissed these justifications as flawed logic. He noted that in countries like the United Kingdom, citizens typically respond to flooding with volunteerism and community assistance rather than disruptive behavior. He emphasized that living abroad should ideally foster a greater respect for social etiquette and consideration for others during crises.
