Wapiti vehicle collision leaves one dead and several injured
A fatal multi-vehicle collision occurred near Wapiti in Park County, Wyoming, on the morning of August 12. According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, a Ford pickup truck traveling eastbound drifted into the oncoming lane on Highway 14/16/20.
The drifting truck struck two westbound motorcycles, which subsequently caused two additional motorcycles to crash. A Wyoming Department of Transportation vehicle following the motorcycles attempted to swerve but was struck in the tailgate by the Ford before the truck came to a stop in a field.
Authorities have confirmed one fatality resulting from the crash. Two individuals required medical airlift to Billings, Montana, while two others were treated for non-life-threatening injuries in Cody and subsequently released. The highway was temporarily closed for several hours during the investigation.
