Wappingers Falls Waterfall Draws Visitors in Dutchess County

A 75‑foot cascade runs beneath Main Street in the village of Wappingers Falls, Dutchess County, New York. The waterfall, which gave the village its name, historically powered gristmills, sawmills and later the Dutchess Bleachery, and today a hydro‑electric pipe harnesses its flow for local power.

The falls are most striking after heavy rain or during spring melt, when the water thunders over the rocks.
