War photographer Fumihiro Ishikawa passes away at 86

War photographer Fumihiro Ishikawa has passed away at the age of 86. Known for his philosophy of ‘walking to see what cannot be seen,’ Ishikawa dedicated his career to documenting human life and the importance of peace through direct on-site reporting.

In recent years, he traveled to the Noto Peninsula following the January 2024 earthquake to capture the struggles and resilience of local residents. He also visited Vietnam alongside Japanese students to share photographic records of the war's impact, aiming to pass messages of peace to the next generation.

His work, including 120 photographs, is exhibited at the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City.
