War School participants visit Vinkovci to discuss security and regional development

Participants of the 29th generation of the ‘Ban Josip Jelačić’ War School from the ‘Dr. Franjo Tuđman’ Croatian Military Academy conducted a study trip to the Vukovar-Srijem County in Slavonia. During their visit to Vinkovci, they were received by Deputy County Prefect Darko Dimić, President of the County Veterans Council Ivica Nikolić, and City Council President Ilija Cota.

The visit focused on security challenges, cooperation between the Croatian Army and civil institutions, and lessons learned from the Homeland War. Discussions also covered the economic and demographic development of the easternmost Croatian county, including investments in education, agriculture, irrigation, and geothermal energy.

Participants, representing both military and civil sectors, included representatives from partner countries such as Slovenia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. The group reviewed the importance of societal resilience and the role of the military in supporting local communities during emergencies, citing past experiences with the 2014 floods and 2023 storms.
