Warangal PM MITRA Textile Park aims for 300,000 jobs amid lower investment interest

The PM MITRA Mega Textile Park in Warangal, Telangana, is projected to generate up to 300,000 jobs—including 100,000 direct and 200,000 indirect positions—once fully developed. According to information provided to the Lok Sabha by Union Minister of State for Textiles Pabitra Margherita, the park aims to create integrated industrial infrastructure for the textile and apparel sectors, benefiting logistics, supply chains, and ancillary industries.

Despite this potential, Telangana currently lags in attracting investment compared to other states participating in the PM MITRA scheme. Of the ₹68,590 crore in total investment interest reported across seven approved parks nationwide, Telangana has secured only ₹3,800 crore, representing approximately 5.5% of the total. Madhya Pradesh leads the group with ₹19,846 crore in interest, followed by Gujarat with ₹13,094 crore and Maharashtra with ₹12,000 crore.

The Warangal park, categorized as a brownfield project, has seen ₹300 crore spent on trunk infrastructure, with 548 acres already allotted to investors. The central government has allocated ₹4,445 crore for the PM MITRA scheme from 2021-22 to 2027-28.
