Warangal woman rescued from captivity in Muscat
Mohammed Mahamuda, a 45-year-old woman from Warangal, has returned to India after being held captive in Muscat for 25 days. She had traveled to Oman on July 16 on a tourist visa after being promised domestic work by an agent.
Upon arrival, she was allegedly handed over to a sub-agent who confiscated her passport and mobile phone, confined her to a room, and subjected her to physical assault and harassment. The sub-agent reportedly threatened to implicate her in a theft case to prevent her from leaving and demanded a payment of ₹1.13 lakh for her release.
The matter was brought to the attention of BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) through local journalists. Following his intervention, KTR personally covered the expenses for her return. The rescue was coordinated with the Indian Embassy and the BRS NRI Cell in Muscat.
