Warburtons receives first Yutong electric delivery truck
Warburtons, the UK’s largest bakery brand, has taken delivery of its first Yutong TE7 7.5-tonne electric truck from Pelican Electric Trucks. This delivery marks a milestone in the company’s initiative to electrify its fleet of 170 vehicles in the 7.5-tonne category.
Operating from the company’s Wakefield depot, the first of seven ordered Yutong TE7 trucks will deliver bakery products to stores throughout Yorkshire. The vehicle features a 132kWh battery, providing a range of up to 180 miles on a single charge. This move follows a successful trial of the model earlier this year and is part of a broader strategic program to reduce transport emissions. Warburtons has been operating a battery-electric vehicle fleet since 2021, which complements its existing compressed natural gas (CNG) tractors.
