WARDOGS developer BULKHEAD investigates beta crashes
The upcoming tactical shooter WARDOGS, developed by BULKHEAD, recently concluded a large-scale closed beta playtest. The event saw over 500,000 participants and peaked at 105,000 concurrent users. While the gameplay received positive reception for its grounded approach to the FPS genre, technical issues were reported.
Some PC players experienced severe crashes, system freezes, and spontaneous restarts during the beta. Microsoft has confirmed that the Windows 11 update KB5121003 is linked to similar issues, specifically involving certain RGB lighting hardware and drivers like inpoutx64.sys. BULKHEAD is currently investigating these reports.
Looking ahead to its September 10, 2026, Early Access launch, BULKHEAD executives revealed that the studio has already developed prototypes for potential PvE mission modes. The developer intends to use WARDOGS as a long-term platform, potentially adding extraction-style modes and other content via future DLC.
