WARDOGS achieves 1.5 million sales during Steam Early Access launch

BULKHEAD’s tactical 100-player FPS, WARDOGS, has achieved a massive commercial debut, surpassing 1.5 million copies sold shortly after entering Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026. The game reached significant player milestones, with concurrent users on Steam peaking at over 365,000, placing it among the most-played titles on the platform.

Despite the commercial success, the launch faced technical challenges. The sudden surge in players, which far exceeded the studio’s planned capacity of 3,000 to 5,000 concurrent users, led to server instability, long login queues, and matchmaking issues. The developer team had to temporarily take servers offline to implement hotfixes and work with Valve to address technical access limits. Additionally, players reported issues regarding false anti-cheat bans and DDoS attacks.

WARDOGS features large-scale military combat where three teams compete for control zones using tactical gunplay, vehicles, and destructible environments. Players earn in-game currency through combat and objectives to upgrade equipment. While currently available on PC via Steam and GeForce NOW, BULKHEAD has confirmed that versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are planned for 2028.
