Warehouse automation focuses on operational flow and loading efficiency

Developments in warehouse automation are shifting focus toward operational flow and the elimination of manual bottlenecks during the loading process.

Mark Fralick, CTO of IFS Softeon, emphasizes that modern warehouse success depends on maintaining uninterrupted flow rather than just increasing speed. He argues that true efficiency comes from connecting people, processes, and diverse technologies—ranging from robotics to legacy systems—into a single, adaptive ecosystem that prevents bottlenecks.

In a separate approach to logistics efficiency, the South Korean company SpeedFloor is targeting the manual handoff between warehouses and transport vehicles. Their system utilizes a powered conveyor installed directly into truck or trailer floors. This allows cargo to be moved horizontally into or out of a vehicle, reducing the need for workers or forklifts to enter the cargo bay and preventing expensive vehicles from idling while freight is manually stacked.
