Warendorf district to build new fire brigade training center
The Warendorf district is establishing a new fire brigade training center in Freckenhorst, scheduled to become operational in 2028. The facility will be created by converting a former high-bay warehouse into a specialized site for the training and further education of volunteer firefighters.
District Administrator Dr. Olaf Gericke noted that the center aims to provide optimal training opportunities for the more than 2,300 volunteers serving in the district. The training hall is designed to simulate various emergency scenarios, including operations in stairwells, garages, residential buildings, and elderly care facilities, as well as fall protection exercises.
The center will offer a wide range of courses, such as squad leader, radio operator, breathing apparatus carrier, machinist, technical assistance, and CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear) response. It will also provide training for flood protection and leadership development to meet legal obligations and local needs.
