Warendorf hosts 54th Montgolfiade balloon festival

The 54th Montgolfiade in Warendorf, held in the Münsterland region, concluded successfully with favorable weather conditions. Organized by the Freiballonsportverein Münster, the event attracted participants from across Germany, including cities such as Berlin, Kiel, Frankfurt, and Stuttgart.

A major highlight of the weekend was the "balloon glow" on Saturday evening, where 13 pilots ignited their burners while balloons were grounded, turning the envelopes into large, glowing lampshades. The event also featured various balloon flights and a sporting competition for teams.

In conjunction with the festivities, the Warendorf Fire Department utilized the event to promote personal crisis preparedness. Through their new emergency preparedness support department and a mobile civil protection unit, they provided information to visitors on how to prepare for potential disasters, such as power outages, floods, or disruptions to water and communication networks.
