Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV multiplayer preview showcases new faction matchups
KING Art Games released two new "Battlefield Report" videos that demonstrate the upcoming multiplayer mode of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV. In the latest report the Creative Director Jan Theysen and Senior Game Designer Elliott Verbiest face off in 1‑vs‑1 matches, this time pitting the defensive, technology‑focused Adeptus Mechanicus against the relentless, resurrecting Necrons. The videos highlight each faction’s distinct strategic approach—Mechanicus expands its Noosphere Network and builds long‑range fire lines, while Necrons advance their Power Matrix, recover lost units, and apply constant pressure. A previous report showed Space Marines versus Orks, illustrating the game's broader tactical diversity across all four playable factions.
The real‑time strategy title is scheduled for release on 17 September 2026, with the Commander Edition granting three days of early access from 14 September. Both editions are available for pre‑order at a 10 % discount. Post‑launch, KING Art Games plans free updates that will bring back the Crusade mode, add new maps, commanders, game modes, a mission editor, and two major storyline expansions that will deepen the conflict on Kronus and introduce an additional playable faction.
