Warhammer 40,000 expands: Total War game announced and imperial bureaucracy detailed
The Warhammer 40,000 universe’s Imperial bureaucracy is portrayed as a colossal operation run by ten billion clerks, with paper records filling a system of nine planets used as archives. Factions vie for control over the Prol system, especially Prol IX, where the Centurists and Pyrotikers clash in violent disputes that the Inquisition views as a potential powder‑keg. A separate clerical error sparked a five‑year succession conflict on the planet Acreage, pitting twin claimants against each other.
Creative Assembly has confirmed development of Total War: Warhammer 40,000, a strategy game slated for a possible 2027 release on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game will feature factions such as Space Marines, Orks, Aeldari and Astra Militarum, with gameplay including orbital bombardments, cover mechanics and destructible terrain. A closed beta registration is open, and the title represents the first Total War game released simultaneously on console platforms.
