Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons gameplay revealed by Wizards of the Coast

Wizards of the Coast has revealed gameplay for Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, a new single-player, third-person action-adventure RPG developed by Invoke Studios. Showcased at Gamescom, the title features a systemic magic system where spells can be used for both combat and environmental interaction, such as altering weather or manipulating objects to solve puzzles.

The story follows Kaatri, a veteran warrior played by Tricia Helfer, who enters a pact with the Witch Queen Tasha, played by Maggie Robertson, to harness Raw Magic. Set in the land of Darkon, the gameplay emphasizes a blend of melee combat and magical abilities that allow players to reshape the world around them.

Creative Director Jeffrey Hattem stated that while the game respects the D&D brand and includes many Easter eggs for longtime fans, it is designed to be accessible to players who have never played the tabletop role-playing game. The title is expected to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC next year.
