Warmian-Masurian Border Guard receives new equipment for Russian border patrols
The Warmian-Masurian Border Guard has received four new ATVs to assist in patrolling difficult terrain along the Polish-Russian border. The equipment was distributed to stations in Sępopol, Bezledy, Górowo Iławecki, and Dubeninki.
The purchase was funded by the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship local government, with a total of 250,000 PLN allocated this year for Border Guard equipment upgrades. Additionally, local district and municipal funds contributed nearly 40,000 PLN specifically for an extra vehicle for the Bezledy station.
During the handover ceremony in Ostre Bardo, Voivodeship Marshal Marcin Kuchciński stated that while supporting state services is not a primary task of the local government, regional security is a priority given the current geopolitical situation, including the war in Ukraine and hybrid threats on the EU's eastern border. Colonel Wojciech Niewulis, deputy commander, noted the vehicles will support officers in daily operations protecting the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast.
