Warmian-Masurian Region, Poland Issued Severe Wind and Rainstorm Warnings
Poland's Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued public alerts for the Warmian‑Masurian voivodeship. For July 8‑9, 2026, a second‑degree wind warning warned of sustained winds up to 70 km/h with gusts reaching 115 km/h in counties such as Braniewo, Elbląg and Elbląg city, and anticipated possible power outages, transport disruptions and damage to property. The agency also forecast heavy rain with thunderstorms for Thursday and Friday across the same region and parts of Podlaskie and Mazowieckie, with potential flash‑flooding, lightning hazards and delays to outdoor events. Residents were advised to monitor updates, secure loose objects, avoid travel in exposed areas and limit outdoor activity while authorities prepared for possible emergency responses.
