Warming centers to open in Brockville and Rockland County

New seasonal warming centers are scheduled to open on November 1 in both Brockville, Canada, and Rockland County, United States, to provide shelter and support for individuals experiencing homelessness during the winter months.

In Brockville, the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is partnering with Bartimaeus Inc. to operate an overnight center at 10 Church Street. The facility will operate daily from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. until March 31, offering supervised indoor space, light refreshments, and connections to housing-focused case management. To maintain safety, substance use is prohibited and personal belongings are limited.

In Rockland County, the seasonal Warming Center will reopen at the Dr. Robert L. Yeager Health Center in Pomona. The facility can accommodate up to 75 adults overnight and will also open during daytime hours when temperatures fall below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Services include hot meals, showers, laundry, and assistance with employment and public benefits. Free transportation will be provided from several locations, including Spring Valley, Nyack, and Haverstraw.
