Warmland Senior Youth Choir wins first place at BC Provincial Music Festival
The Warmland Senior Youth Choir from Cowichan won first place at the BC Provincial Music Festival held in Prince George this past June. This victory marks a significant achievement for the group in its inaugural year.
For the competition, which required audio submissions, the choir performed two selections: a piece based on Robert Frost’s poem ‘Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening’ and the song ‘Umoja Tunaimba’, meaning ‘United We Sing’.
Senior choir director Michelle Weckesser noted that many members had never participated in a choir before last September, highlighting their growth as musicians and singers.
