Mackenyu to star in Mashle: Magic and Muscles live-action film

Japanese actor Mackenyu has been cast as the lead character, Mash Burnedead, in a live-action film adaptation of the popular manga series “Mashle: Magic and Muscles” by Hajime Komoto. The film is scheduled for release in Japanese theaters on March 19, 2027.

Directed by Yuichi Fukuda, the project is overseen by Warner Bros. Pictures and Fuji Television, with production handled by CREDEUS and distribution by Toho. To prepare for the role, Mackenyu reportedly spent three years undergoing intensive physical training to achieve a physique suitable for the character, who relies on immense muscular strength in a world dominated by magic.

A teaser visual and trailer have been released, showcasing the protagonist in his Easton Magic Academy uniform. The story follows Mash, a young man born without magical abilities, who must navigate a prestigious magic school using only his physical power to protect those he cares about.
